The new stand up paddleboards arrived today and it was such a beautiful day that we had to get them on the water straight away on the rising tide at St Brelades Bay. I have purchased 4 Red Paddle Co inflatable SUP's for use with groups and on an initial launch they appear to be ideal.
Getting to grips with the equipment for the first time.
Pretty soon we had the skills to head out to St Brelade's pier for the inevitable jump.
Light and easy to transport by all sizes.
They came across as sturdy and suitable for mastering the basic skills as well as just sitting around in the sunshine.
After a thoroughly enjoyable hour on the water it was time to head back into town. Unfortunately whilst tying two of the boards onto the roof of my car I slipped whilst pulling down on the crossed kayak straps and slammed my elbow onto the top of the rear passenger door.
The pain was quite a shock but to cut a long story short a few hours and a couple of x-rays later a broken arm was diagnosed. I have to see a specialist on Wednesday morning to see just how serious an impact it might have on my paddling.
So the moral of the story is to be careful when tying things to the roof, kayaking straps are hazardous equipment.
