One of the most popular games that canoe and kayak coaches play, with young people in particular, is raft running but one group in New York State has taken this to a new level.
The Central Adirondack Paddlers Society organised an event on Fourth Lake, in Inlet, New York as part of an event to raise breast cancer awareness. They managed to get 1,902 canoes and kayaks in their raft, which smashed the old record of 1,619 which was set in Pittsburgh. The event was held on the 24th September 2011 but confirmation of the new record has only just been received from the Guinness Book of Records.
